CELPIP test centres in Canada: how booking actually works

CELPIP is a computer-delivered test, sat at official test centres run through Paragon Testing Enterprises. Centres operate in most Canadian provinces, concentrated where demand is: the Greater Toronto Area (including Brampton and Mississauga), Metro Vancouver (including Surrey), Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg all have regular sittings, and Paragon also lists locations in several other countries. Availability changes month to month, so the only reliable list is the official test-centre finder on celpip.ca.

How booking works

1. Create an account on celpip.ca and choose the test you need — CELPIP-General for permanent residence and most purposes, CELPIP-General LS (Listening and Speaking only) for citizenship.
2. Pick a location and date in the finder. Popular urban centres can fill one to three weeks ahead; quieter locations often have space within days.
3. Pay online and save the confirmation. Your name at booking must exactly match the passport or permanent-resident document you will bring.
4. Arrive early with that identification. Personal items are stored outside the test room; the centre provides everything you use during the sitting.

Choosing between a centre and CELPIP Online

Paragon also offers a remote-proctored online sitting for some tests. It can be the practical choice if the nearest centre is hours away — but whether an online result is accepted depends on the organization receiving it, and the technical requirements (camera, room checks, a stable connection) are strict. Before booking online, confirm two things on the official pages: that the online format is available for your test, and that the body you are submitting scores to accepts it. When in doubt, a test centre is the safe default.

Practical test-day details

• The full CELPIP-General runs about three hours with no scheduled break; the LS version is roughly seventy minutes.
• Everything is done on the centre's computer, including speaking — you talk into a headset in a room of other test-takers, which is worth simulating in practice.

• If you need to reschedule, do it as early as possible — the closer to test day, the larger the fee, per Paragon's policies.

One week out: make the format familiar

The single best use of the final week is a full-length mock in one sitting. Test centres are quiet but not silent, timing is unforgiving, and speaking into a headset while others talk around you is a skill of its own. A complete run-through removes the surprises so test day is only about the English.
